Medicinal mushrooms have been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years and have gained popularity in recent decades as a natural health supplement in North America. In addition, 60% of women treated were completely cleared of the virus compared to only 42% of those who weren’t.

Finally, turkey tail has been shown to have a beneficial impact on gut health as it contains naturally occurring prebiotics. One study found that turkey tail extract modified gut bacteria composition by increasing populations of beneficial bacteria like bifidobacterium and lactobacillus while reducing potentially harmful bacteria, such as clostridium,  staphylococcus and salmonella. In fact, turkey tail has a similarly positive effect on the gut microbiome as treatment with prebiotic supplements.
