AOR I-3-C 60caps
Promotes healthy estrogen metabolism
- A phytonutrient found in broccoli
- Antioxidant support to help protect against cell damage caused by free radicals
- An effective dose of I3Cper capsule
Indole-3-carbinol (I-3-C) is a phytonutrient found in Brassica vegetables such as broccoli, kale and cabbage, and is one of the key health-promoting compounds in these foods.
To understand benefits we must first consider estrogen. “Estrogen” is actually not one substance, but a family of forms: E1, E2, and E3 that stimulate the growth and development of women’s reproductive systems. These forms all undergo metabolism in the liver which can yield different end products or metabolites. The estrogen metabolite 16 alpha-hydroxyestrone (16OHE) is a “bad” estrogen as it can increase risk of damaging cells. On the other hand, “good” estrogens also exist, in the form of 2-hydroxyestrone (2OHE), along with 2-methoxyestradiol. The idea is to encourage the body to favour detoxification into these less harmful pathways and then ensure proper packaging and excretion of these “old” hormones.
Human studies in women taking I-3-C have shown a favourable shift in estrogen metabolism.
AOR Advantage
AOR’s I-3-C provides a safe and effective dose of this natural ingredient.
I3C vs DIM
I3C needs stomach acid to then convert into 15+ compounds, of which the most predominant is DIM. While there are advantages for supplementing with DIM directly (in individuals with poor stomach acid conversion), some may want to take this parent molecule for the synergy of the other compounds produced.
