What is Serrapeptase?
Serrapeptase is a natural proteolytic and mucolytic enzyme that has been shown to be effective in reducing acute and chronic inflammation, breaking up mucous, and managing pain. Serrapeptase is produced from the enterobacteria Serratia marcesans, originally derived from the silkworm to dissolve its silken cocoon. Today Serrapeptase is manufactured by culture fermentation, ideal for broad spectrum enzyme-based therapeutics.
How Serrapeptase Works
Research indicates that the enzyme serrapeptase breaks down inflammatory proteins, reduces viscosity to thin mucous, reduces capillary permeability to reduce swelling, and regulates immune cell migration from lymph nodes to inflamed and injured tissues. It helps break down inflammation caused by abnormal proteins and dissolves by-products (damaged and dead tissue) of the healing response, without harming healthy tissue.
Who Can Benefit from Serrapeptase?
Clinically, the enzyme serrapeptase is proven to be beneficial for individuals with acute or chronic inflammation, muscle and joint inflammation (stiffness, pain, arthritis, fibromyalgia), healing from sports injuries or surgery (swelling, bruising, congestion, pain), biofilm and candida overgrowth, PMS and breast swelling, sinus and respiratory conditions, coughs, excess mucus, post-nasal drip, and allergies.
