NAC (N-acetyl cysteine) is a sulfur-containing acetylated form of the amino acid cysteine, providing more stability and better absorption than cysteine alone. The health benefits from NAC are due to its anti-inflammatory, mucolytic, and antioxidant properties. NAC is a potent antioxidant and increases production of the ‘master antioxidant’ glutathione, providing Protection-Plan-Plan against lipid peroxidation, oxidative stress, and free radical damage.

As a precursor to glutathione synthesis, NAC increases glutathione levels in the liver, lungs, kidneys, bone marrow, and brain.
