Alpha Science Psyllium Seed 100 Capsules :

The primary component of psyllium seed (Plantago Psyllium) is mucilage, which is a source of both soluble and insoluble fibre.

The major mucilage is found in both the outer husks and the inner seed. Mucilage is made up of indigestible fibre that absorbs water and swells several times its original size. If taken with lots of water, it acts like a bulk laxative absorbing water, stretches the large intestine and decreases the length of time that stool stays in the intestine. In cases of diarrhea, psyllium mucilage absorbs the excess liquid, slows down the movement and delays the emptying of the contents from the gastrointestinal tract.

The mucilage in psyllium also helps to absorb toxins from external sources (e.g. carcinogens) as well as the  internal sources (produced by intestinal bacteria and parasites

Through its actions, psyllium can be used to help with Reducing cholesterol absorption, Lessening the frequency of hemorrhoids and hiatal hernias, Reducing constipation & Reducing intestinal disease.

Psyllium Seed (Outer Husk and Seed Contents) 500mg

Suggested dose for adults: 3-6 capsules daily with juice or water or as directed by your health care practitioner.

Plenty of water should be consumed because if it is not provided, it will be drawn out of the body. If a person is already constipated, taking psyllium without plenty of water could worsen the condition.
